Iván Navarro talks about his artwork Homeless Lamp, the Juice Sucker (2004–05). He discusses various influences including conceptual art, The Mole People (a book about homeless people in the New York subway system), and memories of blackouts in Chile that were used as a tool of control. He explains how the video component of the work documents an action in which he pushed the sculpture through New York’s gallery district, periodically connecting it to power sources in street lamps.
