We visit Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien in their London studio. Over the past few years the two industrial designers have won several prestigious design prizes in various parts of the world.

Indian Nipa Doshi (b. 1971) and Scottish Jonathan Levien (b. 1972) met as students at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2000 they opened their joint design studio Doshi Levien, which has garnered great acclaim. While Nipa creates her ideas through the drawing process on paper, Jonathan takes a more physical approach and prefers to mark the material with his hands. In the end, though, Doshi and Levien share the same vision. They are searching for the beautiful object, whether they create furniture, cooking ware, shoes or spaces. By mixing cultures they both want to create a world of color, thus objecting to the homogenization of life.

Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien were interviewed by Marc-Christoph Wagner.
