Casey Jane Ellison's animations and videos are the byproducts of her desire for world domination. Rather, creating a world which she dominates. Her most recent project is a series of animations and videos entitled IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO SEEM WONDERFUL. The first animation in the series depicts a computer model of her face and body performing one of her stand-up comedy routines in a vacuum. There is no laugh track. Objectification of her self, her material, her ideas, her lifestyle, her insecurities are available for public judgment. She is protected and made vulnerable by her own disclosure and displacement. She aspires to seem wonderful as evidenced by the work.

Casey Jane Ellison (b. 1988, Los Angeles) lives and works in NYC. BFA 2009, School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has presented video and animation at MoMA PS 1 and Museum of Art and Design. She curates ABOVEGROUND ANIMATION, which is an online exhibition and a roving platform for animation that she presents annually at Ramiken Crucible in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She will present ABOVEGROUND ANIMATION at New Museum this fall.
