Fashion designer Telfar Clemens is a digital utilitarian. Instead of targeting the hyper-niches which evolve from a fracturing cultural landscape, what Clemens produces is user-friendly and customizable, like string-adjustable unisex designs, foldable mobile clothing racks, and a crowdsourced runway presentation for Fashion Week. Here he selects three videos which present a behind-the-scenes perspective on his process and products: an assistant corralling runway props, stylized documentation of Clemens hand-dying garments, and a fan-filmed montage of a recent runway show. Like the video works of his collaborator Ryan Trecartin, these videos engage the dialogue between identity and technology, constructing an online version of self and crowdsourcing the narrative of his eponymous clothing line.
