Lighting the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Temple of Invention from 19th Century Daylight to 21st Century LEDs

This talk was provided for a class of Penn State Lighting Students and traces the history of lighting  by telling the story how the Old Patent Office transitioned from day-lit 19th Century landmark into a large museum with modern lighting systems. The talk goes into depth about museum lighting topics, including preservation of light sensitive materials and how lighting can help provide a dynamic museum experience.
