Photographer Alejandro Cartagena explains the process of shooting his Lost Rivers photographs. These images, which focus on the effects of unplanned development on Mexico's waterways,  are part of his series Suburbia Mexicana, which deals with the impact of urban and suburban growth, land use, water use, and city planning in and around Monterrey.
