This video focuses on Rineke Dijkstra's series of portraits of Almerisa, whom the artist met as a child in a refugee center for Bosnian asylum seekers in the Netherlands. Dijkstra and Almerisa each describe the experience of taking their first photograph together and discuss how the series has evolved over the course of Almerisa's life as she grows from a young Bosnian girl into a Dutch woman with her own child.

Curator Olivier Meslay describes the creation of Maillol's bronze sculpture Flora, one of four commissioned in 1910 by the Russian collector Ivan Morosov for his Moscow palace. Flora came to Maillol as a fully formed inspiration that took less than two weeks to realize.

In a deliberate attempt to reach a larger public and market, Monet submitted the traditionally formulated Seine at Lavacourt to the 1880 Salon. It was accepted, but the canvas was poorly hung and never attracted much attention except from writer Emil Zola, the vocal advocate of impressionism, who described it as "an exquisite note of light and open air."

In the same year, Monet submitted another, more audacious scene, which was refused. He would never again offer a painting to the Salon.
