Jair Straschnow and Gitte Nygaard stayed at the centre for several weeks and designed several practical solutions for some of the problems the center is facing. In order to create a space for personal expression, they designed tables and benches for playing games, drawing and writing. The Postbox Lockers provide the children with storage for their belongings but they also provide a symbolic ‘identity’ or ‘address’ for these dispossessed children.</p> <p><a href="http://artbabble.org/video/boijmans/jair-straschnow-and-gitte-nygaard-design-street-children" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://artbabble.org/video/boijmans/jair-straschnow-and-gitte-nygaard-design-street-children#comments European Design Gitte Nygaard Jair Straschnow Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen http://artbabble.org/sites/default/files/bvideos/d3/d3b19f1f9ce81979/poster-image-07.jpg d3b19f1f9ce81979 Wed, 18 Nov 2009 11:15:15 +0000 Boijmans.educatie 5511 at http://artbabble.org Studio Wieki Somers: Merry-go-round coatrack http://artbabble.org/video/boijmans/studio-wieki-somers-merry-go-round-coatrack <div class="field field-type-nodereference field-field-series"> <div class="field-label">Series:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/series/dutch-design">Dutch Design</a> </div> <div class="field-item even"> <a href="/series/dutch-design">Dutch Design</a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-nodereference field-field-institution"> <div class="field-label">Institution:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/partner/museum-boijmans-van-beuningen">Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen</a> </div> </div> </div> <p>Studio Wieki Somers’ products are like ‘metaphors of everyday life’.
