What can we tell about a photograph by knowing about the camera used to make
it? The painters featured in the IMA exhibition Snapshot: Painters and
Photography, Bonnard to Vuillard were experimenting with the newest
technology of their era; the photos they made were created in a highly
charged creative atmosphere, buoyed by the democratization of the camera and
the birth of amateur photography.

Marlon Blackwell, architect of the award-winning Ruth Lilly Visitors Pavilion
talks about the focus on the origins and inspiration for his work in 100
Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art and Nature Park. Reviewing the process
that was proposed in collaboration with Ed Blake and Mary Miss, the talk will
discuss how the artwork drove the development of the park rather than the
architecture. In addition to a focus on the design and detailing of the
Visitors Center, Blackwell will also provide an overview of the original
vision including the Walkway Bridge and the Experiential Center.

Sustainable fashion designer and author Timo Rissanen of Parsons School of
Design, and Indianapolis’ own People for Urban Progress director Michael
Bricker have a high-stakes conversation about designs that waste nothing.
From apparel patterns that leave nothing on the cutting room floor or in the
landfill, to repurposing colorful stadium seats to punctuate a cityscape,
consider Indy’s place at the crossroads of design decisions as smart as
they are sustainable. Moderated by Petra Slinkard, IMA Curatorial Associate,
Textile and Fashion Arts.

This talk is a series of discussions between Biennale collaborators,
including gymnast Dave Durante, choreographer Rebecca Davis, composer
Jonathan Bailey, and IMA staff members. The IMA has recently acquired Body in
Flight (Delta) by the artists Allora & Calzadilla, one of the six new works
featured in the U.S. Pavilion during the Venice Biennale. The sculpture will
be placed in Efroymson for six weeks and will serve as the site for regularly
scheduled performances by local gymnasts.

<p>From Produce to Production: New Traditions in Bay Area Food Culture, Sat, Feb 19, 2011 — With so many fields relying on technology and invention for progress, the food culture in and around San Francisco is largely connected through notions of preservation.
