What exactly is 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art and Nature Park? Adjacent to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and located on 100 acres that includes untamed woodlands, wetlands, meadows and a 35-acre lake, 100 Acres: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park will be one of the largest museum art parks in the country, and the only one to feature the ongoing commission of site-specific artworks.

In the fall of 2007, the Indianapolis Museum of Art unveiled "Above and Below", a commissioned installation by Maya Lin on the Fortune Balcony of the Asian art galleries; this work was inspired by the complex structure of underground White River tributaries in south central Indiana.
