Period & Style
This video provides insight into the thriving street art scene in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and one of the largest cities in the world. We follow street artists Medialegal and Bujangan Urban. Medialegal started as a punk group, which subsequently led to making street art under the moniker "Medialegal." The other artist, Bujangan Urban, has been drawing on walls since he was a child, and only once he met friends that were part of the "artcoholics" crew, did he fully embrace his status as a street artist. Both artists express content that deals with corruption, pluralism, and gender.
