Welcome and Rotunda History (ASL)
This video introduces John Russell Pope’s design for the West Building Rotunda, which opened to the public on March 17, 1941 with a ceremony led by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The museum’s coffered dome and columns were inspired by the ancient Roman Pantheon.
