Tang Museum: Artists Bob Braine and Leslie Reed on the Ecosystem that Informs "Brick Row Planter, Mayone Woodland"
In this video, Bob Braine and Leslie Reed discuss the genesis of their piece Brick Row Planter, Mayone Woodland and how it is informed by the ecosystem of Murderers Creek, a small tributary of the Hudson that flows through their backyard. Braine and Reed’s piece was one of several works by the duo included in the Tang group exhibition Lives of the Hudson, which explored the long history of one of America’s greatest rivers. Along with important works by Hudson River School painters, the exhibition presented objects of material culture, science, and contemporary art. Focused on the last two hundred years, Lives of the Hudson presented an intersection of contrasting and varied stories—environmental, historical, and individual—whose journeys all lead back to the Hudson itself.
