Guggenheim UBS MAP artist Federico Herrero discusses his residency at Pelican Estate in Peckham as part of the South London Gallery’s presentation of "Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today," which was arranged in association with the Pelican Plus Tenants and Residents Association and Joan Morris, the association’s chair. He talks about making a site-specific work in the estate’s playground, using color but avoiding the decorative associations of mural painting. Local residents, children, and curator Pablo León de la Barra explain how the work has activated its communities.
