The Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative aims to “present a more inclusive view of art history for generations to come,” says Joan Young. In this video, Young and the initiative’s three dedicated curators—June Yap, Pablo León de la Barra, and Sara Raza—discuss working with artists hailing from South and Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East and North Africa in order to strengthen the museum’s collection. Highlighting the work of artists Vandy Rattana, Amalia Pica, and Emily Jacir, they reflect on the many cross-regional, cross-disciplinary, and cross-cultural connections that the Guggenheim has made.
