Performance artist Dawn Kasper welcomes MOCAtv to her Los Angeles home and studio with an excitement and sarcasm befitting MTV Cribs. In discussing her "nomadic studio practice experiment" -- an ongoing project borne out of financial necessity that now encompasses her major works -- Kasper moves from the quotidian to the extraordinary, from the mundane to the extreme. For her contribution to the 2012 Whitney Biennial, entitled This Could Be Something If I Let It, Kasper unpacked the contents of her studio into the museum for a three-month durational performance, making work, holding visits, and inviting the audience to activate the objects in her space. Now that each object in her studio has passed through the museum's inventory process, even a quick pan around her room blurs the boundaries between studio and storage, hoarding and archiving, art and life.
