Esther Chao, objects conservator, talks at Museo Jumex, Mexico City, about conservation issues with reference to three different artworks in the Bajo un mismo sol exhibition. She discusses the degradation of the tortillas used in Damián Ortega’s sculpture, the accumulation of fingerprints on the metal cymbals in Carlos Amorales’s installation, and ways to protect the gold bath towels in a work by Adriano Costa. Chao ends with a look forward to the show’s installation at the South London Gallery.
