Gridthiya Gaweewong rethinks the history of South and Southeast Asian art, focusing in particular on contemporary practice in Thailand and the way it has been exhibited and discussed in the U.S. and Europe since the ’90s. Discussing important exhibitions of Thai art including Dr. Apinan Poshyananda’s Traditions/Tensions, and leading contemporary artists such as Montien Boonma, Gaweewong cites work by younger generation artists such as Apichatpong, as well as No Country artists Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook, Navin Rawanchaikul, and Vandy Rattana.
