Minerva Cuevas talks about the production of her mural painting installation Del Montte—Bananeras as part of Under the Same Sun at the South London Gallery (June 10-September 4, 2016). She discusses the opportunities that come with showing the work outdoors, and the advantages of using professional scenic artists. She also talks about the work’s reference to Guatemalan dictator Efrain Rios Montt, and the ways in which the natural resources of Central America become politicized.
